Can it honestly get ANY better than this?

These kids are AWESOME! Here are some of our day to days. I feel SO blessed to have healthy happy babies.

YWIE '09-Oscar Night

Church, Church, Church. . . I absolutely LOVE my calling in the Young womens. Next month it will be 2 years since I was called as the Presidente. The youth are a blast to work with and their testimonies are incredible. They have A LOT of courage to choose the right these days!!

These pics are from our Young Women In Excellence night which took place last month. It turned out to be a really fun as well as a spiritual night for everyone involved.
SO.....Thought I would share the idea. This is a night to honor the girls and their efforts in Personal Progress ( a book of goals that include scripture study, service, prayer, obedience to commandments and developing talents/gifts) Each girl brought a project to display. Their Parents were also invited.

Our theme was Night of the Stars and we based it off of the "Oscars".
We had the projects on display tables in the back of the room with a Big personalized star to individualize each project.
The "red carpet" was butcher paper from the middle school with christmas lights taped along the sides.
The red carpet led to a moveable pulpit/mic at the front of the room.
We had "Oscar" trophies that we ordered on line and stuck a sticker along the base that read:

S.T.A.R.
Stand for Truth And Righteousness

*My laurel Pres. Conducted and introduced the night and theme.
*Op hymn and Prayer
*speaker 1: A return sister missionary that was from our ward. Also had accomplished her Pers.Prog. and recieved her Medallion. She spoke on how Pers. Prog. helped prepare her for a mission and strengthened her testimony of the savior and her purpose.
*speaker 2: A laurel that had also received her medallion. Spoke of her projects, how hard/easy it was, what she learned and her testimony.
*musical: All yw and leaders sang "I am like a star shining brightly" A solo 1st time through, then a round, then all together.
*Presentation of Awards: Me and My laurel 1st counselor were the 'hosts'. I had written up a script with jokes along the way. We introduced each YW..."Our next award goes to our fashion designer of the group...straight from Hollywood..looking fabulous as always...Karlie. Come on down.!" Then each girl would walk the red carpet and accept their Oscar. Then give an "acceptance" speech which was a BRIEF explanation of the project that they had on display. Of course the GOOFBALLS shed some tears and had music to lead them off.
I ended the awards with thanks and testimony.
*speaker 3: Bishop spoke on being a true star. A light and a guide for all to see. Stand out and "Be an example of the believers" which has been this years mutual theme. 1 Timothy 4:12.
*CL. Hymn and prayer

Afterwards everyone was welcome to take the "Walk of Fame" (see the projects) and grab refreshments. Which were Star sugar cookies and a sparkling drink.
We also had a photo shoot of the girls in front of our star backdrop. But we forgot to get the group pic.

This dress is borrowed from one of my soccer girls, Chanae, that is now graduated. It is so pretty. I had fun twirling and dancing around in it for the night. When I got home the kids thought it was the coolest place to hide.

Dave says:

While having a particularly rough ride with the kids... "driving with kids is like driving drunk except that you want to crash." obviously he was being very sarcastic but it made me laugh and I just had one of those drives. Fun! Haha

It always comes back to this . . .

*...THE ELK.

Seriously though. It has been quite interesting how over the past, 6+ weeks now, I can be in the grocery store, in the church bathroom, running through town, or just buying a burger and someone that I know but often times don't know, says something about the ELK.
"Hey, are you the girl that Mshot that Big elk?"
"Did I see you in the paper?"
"Some lady gave me a picture of you that she got from her grandma's neighbor because you were from Kamas and so am I."
This old man at church, Ted, whispers in my ear each time we pass, "Hows the ol' Elk Slayer doin?" then slowly walks on grinning.

IT IS HILARIOUS!!! the people and endless stories that I have met and heard since this experience. I am NO DEDICATED DIE HARD hunter by any means. But I did practice and was in a the right spot at the right time!!!
I was fortunate to get such an awesome animal so close, and then to pull back an arrow at him. And then kill such a thing. Yes it was AWESOME, Intense and nerve racking!! I don't down play any of it, . . Just laugh that I'm a magnet for some I may not have ever spoken to otherwise.?

**SO-I decided to enter a picture of this elk into a photo competition that KUTV 2 news is putting on. If you click on the link next to Elk picture to the right you can take a few minutes to vote/or check out the other people's pics. IT WOULD BE AWESOME TO WIN. ..But I need YOUR help. There are only 4 more days to get like 30 more people to vote. Its worth a try. AND...Hey, I shot this beast with a Bow. That's got to say something when compared to all the rifle pictures submitted.???

Also, since we're "back to the Elk" I decided to post some of the many "real" non cell phone photos from the last hunt and big bull. I never got around to posting them earlier. I also added two sweet videos of THEE MOMENT. (If you didn't see them already.) It was a great time with the pops, uncle Boyd, uncle Myron and sister Shelly. We all had our hunting bonding moments between the 3 trips that it took to finally end in success. Enjoy.!!....or not, if your thinking I'm a crazy animal killing "red neck" girl that should be baking more bread. I do that too.

Now Go vote.
