Going back to good ol' Viewmont High

That's right. I ventured back to my high school this past Monday night to watch the Vikelle spring dance concert. This concert was the "goodbye" last Hoorah for Bonnie, who has been the Dance coach there for, I don't really know??? twenty three or so years. WOW.

AND NO, I was not a vikelle/dancer. Although I have to admit that every time I've watched most dance concert type things....I totally want to wear every one of those costumes and bust a move. Especially the full on florescent body suits with hoods that were used in the black light dance. SO FUN.
Anyways. The Alumni dancers were invited to come back and be in this last concert. Which is really the whole reason I went. I had some friends/acquaintances that were going to be dancing...Most all of them with post baby bodies and out of the dance scene. I thought it was pretty daring of them to come back....BUT they ALL did awesome and I had a great time seeing and talking to some of them. My cousin Trish was one of the Alumni and she is a STAR! Looks great, dances great and I took a little snippit of video for all to see.

As far as parking, walking the halls, using the restroom and actually sitting in the auditorium watching these dances, that I totally remembered from my days...IT was very strange. I definitely had a bunch of memories and thoughts while visiting.

A small piece of me missed those days of being single and seeing SO many friends every single day. I saw a few of the teachers there and I missed goofing off in class or going to aerobics and hearing Arhart's crazy voice.
I thought about random "hot" boys that I would always see standing in that same place?...OR annoying girls and their constant drama. You KNOW.

Then a LARGE piece of me didn't miss it a bit. I am SO glad that I have already passed that stage of my life. It really made me appreciate my current status and what I've been able to do since then. Next year will be 10 years since I graduated from that place. WOW. ....SO much has happened. AND I'm now married with 2 kids.

Every "stage" has it's moments and I've enjoyed each one. It was just nice to be the person looking "back" and remembering.
I'm pretty positive that Life only continues to get better!

All the way from AK

My dear cousin Ash lives far, far and AWAY on a little broken off piece of Alaska....called KODIAK. She has started the fabulous hobby of quilting and already is quite the expert. Hobbies, may I add are no easy task with 2 small kids and a coast guard husband who is constantly at sea.
Here are a couple pics from the package we received that included one of these Glorious quilts.
"This is your birthday and Christmas present until you are 30." I believe is how she put it.
It can be an expensive and time consuming hobby but...the finished products will last a lifetime.
Thanks cuz. We LOVE, LOVE, loved getting a package with all this fun stuff.
We may just have to pack up ourselves and see what that island is all about.? See you this summer!

What cool patterns!

"I just don't have time for that."

I have had so many conversations lately, with several different people, each unique in their situation and with each one there comes the comment.....
"OH, no, I just don't have time for that."

Whether it be eating healthy..."nope, not the time." Exercising each day..."Oh WOW! No time for that." To trivial past times...such as blogging, facebook or reading a book. Same comments, "Are you kidding me? I just, DO not have time for those things."
What is this world coming too? or What are WE coming to?
I completely agree that LIFE IS BUSY PERIOD. But is it becoming where if time is spent doing any of the above mentioned or other "hobbies" that it is time wasted or time that you shoulda, coulda, woulda IF ya? You know what I mean? Cuz that is the feeling that I began to get while in these conversations?.

OR maybe we are taking on too much "other" stuff that we have NO TIME for "our" own free time or interests? Cut back, sit back? What is it?

Cuz, I feel that Any person can usually make the time for something IF they REALLY want to. May be a variation in that something, such as the amount of time spent, detail taken or how often it's accomplished...But it Can happen. AND should.
I know it's not just me...WE ALL need a time out. And we all need to spend SOME time doing what we WANT to do. right?
That's how we become a better person. Less in sane and less likely to strangle someone.. . haha I may be only speaking for myself here.?
I guess my main grich is at life itself?...I hate that it can get the best of us sometimes. It's those days when just simply living: keeping others alive and maintaining your job, house, church calling, and finances just about kills you.

Well, no more.
If I had to make a new MID year resolution...
HERE IT BE: to focus on where my time is spent and make time for things that I REALLY want to do. Cuz I CAN. AND no guilt attached. THE END.

Happy Earth Day!

It's 11:44pm and about time to put this day in history.
For earth day's sake, I accomplished the 3 R's. I Reused a paper plate 3 times before finally throwing it away. I Recycled my trash, and I Reduced my shower time by 1/2 due to a crying baby.
Cha Ching. Mother earth will live a little longer because of my efforts.

I also had a very rare sequence of events that made my day magic. So, must be documented.?
- got 9 hrs of sleep
- exercised
- showered
- did my hair, make up and got dressed by 1030am. For really no particular reason.
-vacuumed, did the dishes, and 4 loads of wash.
-got both kids to take a nap at the same time...giving me about 90 minutes of pure MY time.
-went on a walk with the kids to the library
-had delicious pizza for dinner that I ended up getting FREE!.
- went to mutual. kids were in bed once I was home and more time with Dave.
-and I blogged.
Now that is day that just doesn't happen.
It's officially tomorrow now and I'm exhausted. Good night.

Easter in pics..1st stop, Gram and Gramp Trujillo's

This was our "age" group for the dart throwing.

Me, grams and gramps.
These two have kept this Easter tradition alive since I was the tiniest grankid. We did egg hunts back then of course...but now since we're old, they've gone to something much more...sophisticated and violent. Each balloon has a "prize" in it so aim is the game.

AND here are my nerdy yet pretty sisters showing their successes.

3 of the 5 Great Grans with their goods. Beckham, Roma and cousin Laird.
Liam and Olive are far and away in AK.

My mother in all her "proud grandma" glory?
She gave Beck and Roma some really cute Easter presents.!
