Look at that Cheeser grin. Too funny. Friday, December 18, 2009You better watch out..Better not cry.
The scoop of December.
There have been ups and downs and all around towns. Probably the just of most your days as well. -We did visit the "Polar Express" which you can see from the pic above. It was a gift from Dave's parents, G&G Carter which the kids went NUTS over. If you haven't heard about this 90 minute train ride that is turned into the Polar Express. Visit herbervalleyrr.org. IT is a must. -Had the annual cookie decorating party. Always a smash hit. The kids and I made 3 batches of sugar cookies and they all are frosted and frozen to eat and give to some friends. m m mmyum -Dave hit the 1/2 way point of his internship/school counseling hours. 15 more weeks to go and he's got the Masters. WAHOO. -At the ward party this year the Young Women were in charge of decorating the "santa room." 70 kids sat on Santa's lap. This is Beckham and Roma's 2nd time with Santa this year. The 1st was on the train and Beckham asked for more sweaters...haha. YES. It was classic. Roma was far enough away that she didn't act to creeped out. At the ward party, Beckham asked for a bouncy ball...Christmas won't be too hard this year. :) And lil Romes, SCREAMED her guts out at the mention of her sitting on his lap for a picture. We snapped on anyways. Afterwards, for part of the program, Dave sang The First Noel on his guitar while the nativity kids and others sat around him. He did a great job. VERY cute and brave. -I finished my co-ed indoor season on Tuesday night. It was the first game of the final tournament and we lost 4-0. THAT day was one of thee worst days I have had in quite awhile. Not because of the loss of course. .haha. just indoor fun. BUT Oh my, just one thing after another that about killed me...... *HERE are a few examples: woke up too early with Roma crying and aiming to kick me in the face while I was changing her diaper. She screamed most ALL morning, NO day, and had to be held. Must be teeth? Bumped into my legs more than 5 times and then fell down to bump into whatever was next to us. . walls, hard floor, toys..OH man. Later while attempting to make dinner and talk to my insurance company Beckham was eating a Gogurt while I was on the phone and he started screaming at me that he needed it to be pushed up...So, I held the phone over and loudly whispered, "Hey relax. Just ask me and I'll gladly squeeze your yogurt up." Well before I was even finished with the sentence he started jumping and flinging the Gogurt tube back and forth and back and forth. That stuff flew EVERYWHERE. Which really was a bit funny at the same time. It was all over his face, behind him on my fridge and all of the pictures, on the ceiling, and then a huge trail up and down the floor and ceiling in front of him. I was glad I wasn't in that path of bright red goop. His face was covered and he was ticked...so we cleaned for a bit. At the soccer game, which I thought would be my total turn around/stress relief for the day didn't really happen. I was playing goalie and in the first 10 minutes some crazy guy NAILED a shot at me and hit me in the ankle. I swear my foot was broken. So, I didn't play the rest of the game and just iced it. I'm fine now. Just a big ol' bruise and sore ankle. Anyways, too end the day..I hobbled around the grocery store after the game because we had NO food and ended up having to self-check $200 worth of groceries because they had already closed the reg. checkouts. What a Day.!! I laugh about the whole ordeal now but that was exhausting. -We've done some Christmas shopping, baking, sledding, sent out a bunch of cards, had some parties and I've been spending a lot of time on project for the fam. OVERALL. December is a fabulous month. I love the spirit of Christmas and the joy everyone has to give to others. Hope you are all warm and well. ![]() Tuesday, December 8, 2009Friday, December 4, 2009Make a wish.. ..So here's the short- This is sweet lil' Jay on his 7th birthday..the last that we were able to share with him before he passed away 7 months later on the 4th of July. Church, Church, Church. . . I absolutely LOVE my calling in the Young womens. Next month it will be 2 years since I was called as the Presidente. The youth are a blast to work with and their testimonies are incredible. They have A LOT of courage to choose the right these days!!
These pics are from our Young Women In Excellence night which took place last month. It turned out to be a really fun as well as a spiritual night for everyone involved. SO.....Thought I would share the idea. This is a night to honor the girls and their efforts in Personal Progress ( a book of goals that include scripture study, service, prayer, obedience to commandments and developing talents/gifts) Each girl brought a project to display. Their Parents were also invited. Our theme was Night of the Stars and we based it off of the "Oscars". We had the projects on display tables in the back of the room with a Big personalized star to individualize each project. The "red carpet" was butcher paper from the middle school with christmas lights taped along the sides. The red carpet led to a moveable pulpit/mic at the front of the room. We had "Oscar" trophies that we ordered on line and stuck a sticker along the base that read: Stand for Truth And Righteousness *My laurel Pres. Conducted and introduced the night and theme. *Op hymn and Prayer *speaker 1: A return sister missionary that was from our ward. Also had accomplished her Pers.Prog. and recieved her Medallion. She spoke on how Pers. Prog. helped prepare her for a mission and strengthened her testimony of the savior and her purpose. *speaker 2: A laurel that had also received her medallion. Spoke of her projects, how hard/easy it was, what she learned and her testimony. *musical: All yw and leaders sang "I am like a star shining brightly" A solo 1st time through, then a round, then all together. *Presentation of Awards: Me and My laurel 1st counselor were the 'hosts'. I had written up a script with jokes along the way. We introduced each YW..."Our next award goes to our fashion designer of the group...straight from Hollywood..looking fabulous as always...Karlie. Come on down.!" Then each girl would walk the red carpet and accept their Oscar. Then give an "acceptance" speech which was a BRIEF explanation of the project that they had on display. Of course the GOOFBALLS shed some tears and had music to lead them off. I ended the awards with thanks and testimony. *speaker 3: Bishop spoke on being a true star. A light and a guide for all to see. Stand out and "Be an example of the believers" which has been this years mutual theme. 1 Timothy 4:12. *CL. Hymn and prayer Afterwards everyone was welcome to take the "Walk of Fame" (see the projects) and grab refreshments. Which were Star sugar cookies and a sparkling drink. We also had a photo shoot of the girls in front of our star backdrop. But we forgot to get the group pic. Monday, November 16, 2009
