Sick of being sick!

What a weekend. Poor lil Beck has been sick for the last 5 days. It started 4am Saturday morn with a thrown up happy meal that wasn't so happy anymore. From then on Beckham would throw up just about every hour. It was heartbreaking for Dave and I to see him so sad. He would cry "Mom, Dad, no more, no way." We felt so helpless. He couldn't keep anything down so late Saturday night Dave took him to the emergency room. They gave him some suppositories to help with the nausea and said to keep trying the liquids. I was surprised and relieved that they didn't keep him the night.
He finally started making progress and getting some sleep on Monday.. as did the rest of us. Thank heavens!

I knew he really felt crummy when he didn't want to go outside. I had to talk him into going on a walk yesterday. The weather was just too good.

The poor little guy has had it ROUGH.
After a missed day of work for Dave, plenty of clorox, loads of wash, and movies galore....He FINALLY feels better. Hooray.

So, this morning in celebration, we colored some Thanksgiving pictures...and ran around like Indians. (Too bad Roma was asleep or we would've dressed her up too.)

The Best of Photobooth..

Motherhood at it's Best.

A while back, I read this on one of my friends blogs. I think about it often and how as a mom you literally feel like you are on the brink of Loony Bin. If you have a cure....by all means share.

*Recently, I was diagnosed with C. A. A. D. D. - Child Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to do the laundry. As I start toward the laundry room, I notice that there are cheerios all over the floor and my car keys are in the cereal bowl. I decide to pick up the cheerios before I do the laundry. I lay my car keys down on the counter, put the cheerios in the trash can under the sink, and notice that the trash can is full. So, I decide to take out the trash. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left, my extra checks are in my desk in the office/playroom, so I go to my desk where I find a sippy cup full of juice. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I decide I should put sippy cup in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the sippy cup, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye --they need to be watered. I set the sippy cup on the counter, and I discover baby wipes that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back in the bedroom, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the wipes back down, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote, one of the kids left it on the kitchen table. I realize that once dad gets home from work or someone wants to watch Elmo again, I will be looking for the remote as tears are flowing, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the front room where belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the table. So, I set the remote back down, get some paper towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: the laundry isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm cup of juice sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find the wipes, and I don' t remember what I did with the car keys. Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.
*Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming.*

Then again, I'll take "crazy" any day for these two?

Photography

As you know from my last post, I've been "into" some pictures lately. Well, that and some recent conversations got me into a whirl wind of thoughts and questions about "photography".
First of all, I have seen some of THEE cutest family pics posted lately on friends and family's blogs. Where do you guys go? Person and place? and is it expensive and stressful hoping that your kids will be "happy"? I have some friends that are excellent photographers but.... I always wonder if they secretly hate taking friend pics and feeling pressured to give them deal? hmmm. Anyways, I want and need some new Professional family pictures taken and now I'm thinking that we're all going to be pale and the scenery dead? What do you do?

Then, while scanning the old and chatting with the fam, it dawned on me that the photo world has taken some drastic changes. I mean, back when it was ONLY film and the shots were pretty limited... considering cost for 24 exp, I don't think as many photos were taken. And they ALL had to be printed. So, I'm wondering if Nowadays, people still print off their photos and put them in a photo album? Seriously the digi world is crazy and fun. We all have those days where we take a bizillion pics that are all pretty similar but have the hardest time erasing one. Are photo albums and scrap books of the past? OR is it just so easy to get behind in printing them now that the thought of paying that much money and time makes you wanna Barf? haha

After all that, I guess my answer is: PASS on printing pics like these-

and only scrapbook the Good. Ok and goodbye.

P.S. I heard that you can get your blog printed out and made into a hard bound book (blurb.com). I haven't seen one yet but how cool is that?! I'm gonna try it out.

Memory Monday....

This past Saturday, the kids and I ventured to my parents house for a visit. This is a common occurrence for us on the weekends because Dave works Saturdays and by then I'm ready for a change of scenery and a little break from the kids. My fam is always up for playing with the kids so I can relax a bit, run some errands, go to a hair appointment or whatever. This time I decided that it would be fun to scan some of my parents old photos.
As many of you know already Apple/Mac computers are aimed for a creative mind. They've got Garage band for singer songwriter type stuff, Iphoto, IDVD and IMovie for creating music videos and slideshows. Just that much of it has made me crazy about learning how to master each program. I made a highlight video for my soccer team last year on Dave's school computer and then this year on ours. I had limited time and media but with what I had it turned out alright. Since then I've been throwing some of our pics together and learning a lot more. SOO>>>I guess I got a little spark in me to TRY and be one of those "cool video nerds" and make stuff for christmas presents??? or like I said TRY different things out and one day be cool. hah

Wow. anyways. Scanning pics at my parents house turned out to be a riot. I decided that every future visit I will scan at least some of the Bateman photo archive. Just so all the memories are right at my finger tips for creative purposes.
I'm one of those people that loves to watch old family videos and have the "Oh ya, and remember when..." conversations. So, this is exciting for me.

Here are just some of the pics that I scanned so we can go down memory lane together..
BTW- I scanned a lot of my little brother Jay because of course I miss him to death, LOVE him and think that a picture video of his life would be a great thing for all of us to have. He is so dang cute too.

I also got a lot of my ma and pa before they were married and their wedding...pretty cute couple!
