Big news. I DID it. .

We have a bunch of better pictures and dad actually got the shot on video. I plan on making a hunting video/slideshow of this whole crazy ordeal. *as for now, I can not wait to get home to my sweet Dave and lil kiddies! No more dirt and trees.

We are still on our way home but here are some cell phone pics of the monster I shot this morning. I can't believe this thing. The whole experience was more work than I thought I was in for. But how awesome to end with success.!!...
Maybe now I can finally say that I have a 'large rack'? BAha. Sorry, I had to.

Hunting. Out of order. Out of control.

Antlers?

Packing out the meat and hoping that a bear doesn't jump on my back.

No bull elk this trip...But dad was able to fill his cow tag on the last day. These are the guts and girls...dad gave us the elk anatomy 101. Shell had fun touching and stepping on each organ. mmmm.

We had a good time. Definitely made some crazy memories. Now if I could just get the Big dad Elk and Be DONE. I have had a little more hunting than I thought I was in for....Considering I am going back AGAIN.
The last day of the hunt is tomorrow and I've been convinced that it is worth one more SHOT. It's true that this is a rare opportunity and would be my last. SO with that said, Guess I better get uploading more apps for my itouch to keep me busy while SITTING 16 hours in the silence. AND that gets ROUGH.
I'm bound and determined to make all of this time, money and stresses of leaving my family......WORTH IT.

This is where I will be ALL day tomorrow

This is Dad and uncle Myron...My Trip II guides. Tomorrow Uncle Boyd will take Myrons spot in the picture. Both of them have been so willing to spend the time and money to help my dad and I out. It's crazy what die hard hunters will do for a girl to shoot an Elk.. . .

And this is my view ALL day tomorrow....With an animal or two and a Shot of course.

Now your visually up to date. Any luck sent my direction would be fabulous.
***AND I just have to add: Dave is a super Dad and husband for encouraging me to GET IT DONE.!!! THE end.

Driving all night with the Bateheads!

Killer weekend update and part II

I've neglected an update until now because I wasn't sure if that trip was going to be my last... Regardless, it was an awesome weekend and absolutely hilarious! Shelly and I took over 100 pictures and about 20 videos to document our hunting adventure. They are all a crack up and some terms for black mail because... Well, after so many hours in a tree stand without a shower, sleep, real food, bathroom breaks and dressed like a giant leafy sniper, YOU TURN A BIT CRAZY. For an idea, I did post a few videos on Facebook. In one Shelly gets a little personal about her need to 'take a dump.' If you need a laugh, check it out. She's classic!

Ok. I've got to just reel off the facts. Its 530 in the morn and we're only gonna hit one more reception zone before its too late. This is from my phone.
-shell and I were in a tree, side by side about 15 ft up on two tree stands.
-saw a bunch of elk, close and all around us several times. But only mamas, babies and some spike elk. NO big bulls, which is what my tag is for.
-last morning of the hunt, elk were all around, we were rigormortis still for 30 minutes hoping for the big one to come out.
-'we' also had a tag for a cow elk and discussed the idea of filling it if it were the last day and NO big bull showed.
-the elk started going back into the trees, only one cow elk left, so I drew back, shelly started recording and we shot for success! I did have a killer weekend all caught on video and we witnessed the grousome after math. It was intense! All of it.
PART II is now in full swing to fill my $350 lottery tag. This time Dad and uncle Myron are doing all they can to... have one more killer wknd. Catch ya later. Wish me luck.

1st beginner triathalon

This was a 1.5 mile run, 6.2 mile bike and 200yrd swim. (8 touches in the pool) Our Kamas Rec.center sponsered it.
It was a great race to start out with. I can see now why I've heard that they are addicting. You can beat some in a certain event/section and then those same people will come back and kill you in another .... Like swimming for me. Its rough in there with all those swimmers coming at you from every direction. I accidently went an extra lap too...Which about drown me.! There were 123 that
competed and only 8 were local yocals.

Top picture is right before the race. And the 2nd is our loot.
My friend Emily is on the right. She's 30 with 4 kids and kicks butt, got 4th in her age group and beat me by about a minute. Then sassy Eric of course finished before us and got 3rd in his age. I ended up taking 5th for mine.

It was awesome. And I'm sold. I think I'll go find another one to sign up for. ***especially since I'm not prego, not breast feeding and no lil baby! More the reason.
